Neighbourhood, Canggu
Ahh, Neighbourhood. As soon as I set eyes on you I knew you’d be the one for food, design and an awesome interior. Driving around the Berawa area, we saw a couple of cool places that looked like they’d be a great space for some laptop time and a great brunch - you can find Two Trees nearby, Alma (promising a G&T happy hour on a Tuesday night) a pop-up Wanderlust swimwear shop where I found the swimmers of my dreams and a whole load more dreamy places just along the road.
Upon walking in, you’re greeted by a whole host of greenery and a beautiful use of colour and rendering along the walls. There is also an amazing ceiling installation with pampas grass and eucalyptus which got me longing for my own high-vaulted space! Every little detail has been considered, from their choice of colours and tones to their sweet ceramics (which look to be from Cisco & the Sun.)
After lots of deliberation (there weren’t many vegan options, but the choices were still difficult to decide between) we both opted for the Harvest Bowl: turmeric cashew cream brushed on the underside, red kimchi, pickled radish, fresh leaves, honey roasted pumpkin, harissa, toasted seeds, soft herbs and the most ripe avocado, as well as toasted sourdough. Heaven! Although I do have to say, without much bulk, it didn’t keep me full for too long… But I’m still so happy I got to try this combination of flavours.
Something pretty great about this place is that they really left you alone to get on with your work, only asking if we wanted a water top-up or to order anything else. Their free-from cakes looked so great, but not so necessary in the heat of the day before driving down to Ulu. Also, their bathroom was stunning! I wish I had snapped a few pics to capture their beautiful shutter doors, more dried flowers, storage solutions…
Let me know if you end up in these parts, and if you try any of their delicious food!
You can find them at Jalan Pantai Berawa No 99bb, Kuta Utara, Bali 80361 from 08.00 - 16.00.
