A Year of Joy

Almost 2 years ago I sat with Fab outside the Splash (before we ever knew that our lives would lead us down a very beautiful path) and he said he wanted to document every single day that he’s lucky enough to work in the sunshine of the bay, ending each day with a beer shared with amigos. A deep, loving conversation of gratitude ensued and sure enough I encouraged him to begin #ayearofjoy as I’d seen on Nirrimi’s Instagram.

A shedload of time later, I’m so happy that he has continued this streak! I wish I had the dedication to post every day, or to find the inspiration on a long old day of working from the sofa. I feel very lucky, though, that most of our days are intertwined so it’s almost a little memory bank for me too!

Looking back at photos, as I’m sure for most people, brings up an inexplicable well of emotion somewhere around my belly. Even thinking about the last year makes me want to well up (I spent midnight of NYE happy-sobbing about all the memories of the last year) and, since I have a rare evening of chilling by myself, wanted to look back on some of my favourite moments of 2020.

What were some of your favourite moments of 2020?

I feel that even though it was such a weird, unexpected and off-the-cuff year, people have managed to find some joy in the madness. Although it’s now deep, dark January and that spark seems to have dimmed a little, I’m oh-so-sure that the fun of being home for the summer will spread that feel-good factor again.
