Coron

After a little stop in Cebu from Coron, we hopped in a Grab to Little Norway Guest House - a perfect location if you are literally stopping in Lapu-Lapu for the night before an early flight. We headed out to explore, finding genuinely the most incredible roasted black sesame bubble tea at YELO. I need to go back here and experience this again! My taste buds were alive. We explored further, had the cheapest full-body Swedish massage at Thai Nuat after drinking a Tiger Light at the marina.

We found dinner at Tongra BBQ on the main road home - they have a normal or spicy option, so we ordered spicy chicken, loganisa (local sausage,) pork belly and 2 blobs of rice and was so so cheap and delicious.

In the morning we caught a cheap Grab to the airport and checked in for our flight to Coron, Busuanga.

Coron

Day one in Coron felt like a little bit of a waste to be honest. We knew that most people spend their time in Coron aboard a boat, far away from the main island where beaches are aplenty and the sea is turquoise blue. Sadly, the same cannot be said for the town.

Arriving from Cebu at 08.30am, we got a transfer from the airport to our accommodation who kindly let us check in early. We headed straight out to Summer Cafe & Bar for a yoghurt granola and a smoothie bowl.

We went to Epic Cafe in search of wifi and coffee, and sadly found neither… I was not feeling very happy at this point! Nowhere was really offering wifi or A/C. So we walked around and purveyed our boat trip options, which were pretty much all ‘same same but different.’ So we chose the one under the sign ‘Tourist Information’ and were promised a free mask & snorkel for the little Pippin who forgot hers.

For a little pick-me-up, we opted for a veggie burrito at Guapos, but this was such a disappointment and would not recommend. After a little chill, we walked up Mt. Tapyas to watch the sunset over Town Proper, which was beautiful but filled with people trying to get their perfect sunset photo!

We opted for dinner at Altrove, where we shared a tuna pizza with fresh tomato, which was delicious.

Day 2

We embarked on our super ultimate island hopping tour, with 7 stops. This day was actually so fun, with the most beautiful lunch provided by the shipwreck dive site, and literally ran from sunrise until sunset.

Afterwards, we went for dinner at Full Lotus, where we had veggies & hummus, and sharked a Bangkok bowl and papaya salad. I wouldn’t recommend the salad at all, but there is a reason that the bowl is raved about on their social media pages!

For dessert, we found a Pedros gelato stand, and ordered dark chocolate, mint choc chip, hazelnut, which was much-needed after a long day in the sun.

Day 3

We decided, as we had another day in Coron, to avoid another boat trip day and pay for a little luxury in a resort. For 1000php each, we spent the day at Coron Soleil Garden, and our money went far: we ordered 2 San Mig Lights, 1 frozen watermelon daiquiri, 1 frozen margarita, 2 x WTF cocktails that contained triple sec, vodka, gin, lime liqueur, grenadine, blue Caracau & spite. We were, therefore, w.a.s.t.e.d. We also ordered a mango chicken salad, coconut adobo curry, pinakbet and 2 more SMLs.

Day 4

We woke up at 5am for our transfer to the airport, and our flight to Clark, Luzon.
